Lee Center Fire Department Fire Prevention and Safety Day

Fire Prevention and Safety Day
Posted on 10/23/2017
Fire truck On 10/23 the Lee Center Fire Department visited Stokes Elementary school for a Fire Prevention and Safety Day.

The fire department put on a fire safety puppet show for kindergartners and first graders. Sparky the fire dog also visited!

All grades K-6 participated in the Smoke House, which simulated smoke spreading throughout a home. Students who have bedrooms on the first floor of their homes did the simulator on the first floor of the smoke house, while students who have bedrooms on the second floor went down a ladder on the second floor of the smoke house. This way they were able to practice what it would be like in a real fire.

The Firefighters also spent time in the classrooms teaching about fire prevention and safety. Volunteer firefighters ate lunch with the students in the cafeteria.
