BookStokes students in Mrs. Eastup’s class were able to incorporate multiple school subjects when they published their own book!

In social studies, they loved learning about American Symbols, so they decided to take their knowledge to the next level.

Tying in their lessons on the difference between opinion and fact writing, each student was put in charge of writing their own page. The students also drew their own special illustration. In Music class students prepped their patriotic song and in the library they did their research. “This is a great example of the saying that “It takes a village” said Eastup.

Their book is called “Proud to be an American” and was published by the company “Student Treasures”.

To top off this great accomplishment, the class was also chosen as the winner of the 2018-19 grant giveaway. The class received $100 to celebrate! Student’s families were invited to join them in a celebration at school with reading, singing, and snacks.

"As a teacher, there are many rewarding moments, but to see the excitement on the students faces when their books came in, was priceless. They worked hard, and performed like stars! " - Crystal Eastup
